No matter what size company you work for or own, could you imagine if suddenly you completely lost access to all of your data, your clients’ information, your programs, and your operating system? What if you had to build your entire network and all of the computers’ data again from the ground up? How long would that take? It certainly isn’t something that can be done overnight. Most companies don’t think that something that big can happen to them, but it can and people are using disaster recovery software every day because of that.
Maybe a natural disaster won’t hit your building, but maybe a human disaster will. You could have an angry employee who destroys data, or even the computers themselves. You could have power outages or broken pipes that could wipe you out in a minute. If you don’t have disaster recovery software built into your initial business plan, then you need to get moving on it right away.
As a company, your data is as important as any other asset that you have – your buildings, your people, your vehicles, and machines. If you don’t protect it and ensure that it is recoverable at any time, then you are being negligent. And, if you are responsible for the data of other companies, then you absolutely have to take care of that data.
Without a disaster recovery software package in place, you could find yourself out of business, literally overnight. The amount of time and money that it would take to recover all of your data and rebuild your systems might not be worth even continuing in business. Plenty of companies go out of business every year because they didn’t take care of their data when they had the opportunity to do so. Make sure that you aren’t one of those companies!
