Media rooms are now all the rage. If people don’t have one, but don’t want to move, they are adding them to their existing homes.Helpful suggestions for a fabulous media room:

1. Consider oversized sofas, chairs and ottomans. Theater seating is nice, but keep in mind that you are unable to stretch out. For this reason, some of my clients prefer sectional or oversized furniture instead.

2. Don’t make the room too large. A larger room is more difficult to properly fill with sound.

3. Avoid square rooms. They tend to produce strange sounds. A rectangular room is ideal. Place the screen on the narrow side. The wall behind the screen should not have windows or a door.

4. Be prepared to install drapes to prevent glare or light gaps around windows. You will also have the added benefit of the fabric helping with the sound.

5. You do not want high ceilings in a media room. Standard height ceilings are best for sound control.

6. Use flat paint and dark wall colors. Dark gray or black is a great choice.

7. Fabric or micro-fiber furniture pieces are a better choice than leather. Some leather pieces make noise as you move around on them and can be a distraction.

8. Hardwood floors are great for your family room, but a big mistake in a media room. Sound is best controlled by selecting carpet as your flooring choice.

9. Don’t forget the snacks. A nice bar or snack area with a refrigerator and microwave with make it convenient to make popcorn and really get that “going to the movies” experience.

This happens to be the case as many firms that set up in Spain do not have many members of staff who can speak Spanish and will therefore need some help to work themselves into Spanish society.

So if you’re in this situation then outlined some of the things that is on offer from a Spanish translation service.

A lot of companies are now in the habit of making podcasts for their customers and for potential clients. If your business does something a little like this you might want to have the podcasts transcribed into Spanish and then broadcast with subtitles so they can be followed by foreign clients. Better yet you may be intent on getting the podcast translated into a selection of languages, in which case a Spanish translation service could be just the ticket. No doubt your clients will be impressed if you do this because they will know that you take Spanish business as seriously as you do English.

If your company is attempting to advertise in other countries then creating a promotional video is the ideal way to show clients what you are capable of. A lot of companies are doing this as a way to advertise their products and services on a large scale for an inexpensive price. So if you’re looking to expand your client base in Spain then you could add Spanish subtitles to your video, Spanish translation services are the ideal choice to transcribe subtitles from the video’s audio track. This would then ensure that potential customers from Spain could fully get to grips with the services that your company supplies.

If you’re in a meeting with potential Spanish clients and you can’t communicate in their language then making use of a reputable translation service could be the answer to all your problems. This service could be a one off to help facilitate discussions and following this you will have a much better idea of what your customer needs from you. On the other hand you could try sitting through a meeting and stumble your way through basic Spanish in an attempt to discuss vital issues. This will make you seem unprepared and unprofessional, not to mention that it is a lot harder to do than you’d expect, especially when attempting to discuss complicated business plans.

Many advertising agencies make adverts which are later dubber with multiple languages, which means that they often need a Spanish translation service. This can be seen with many European products as it is time efficient and more affordable to simply film one advert and then dub Spanish audio in order to reach the Spanish audience. As a result of this, advertising agencies don’t have to film the advert again with Spanish actors, which could save money without compromising the quality or message of the original advert. So if you want a script translated into Spanish because you are making a recording for Spanish clients, then you might want to think about an English Spanish translation service from a company.

Nowadays less people than ever learn to speak a second language, perhaps because they wrongly believe that everyone can speak English and there is therefore no point. Due to this, there has been an incredible increase in the demand for quality Spanish translation services within the last twenty years, as companies no longer have any staff members that can communicate in other languages. With this kind of situation in mind, a Spanish translation service might just prove to be extremely useful, especially if you are suddenly working in Spain and you don’t have the ability to communicate with people in Spanish.

News companies will often employ an in-house Spanish translation service or secure a long-term contract with a translation firm. This is an average practice within the field of news and media because it’s essential that up-to-date information is relayed on their channel regularly. Employees cannot translate items themselves because it wastes time. Instead they utilise a Spanish translation service to get a bulletin out as fast as they can. Indeed the sheer fast-paced nature of the news has resulted in a surge in the number of media industry translators.

By looking through the above mentioned points, you should now have a better idea of what can be offered by a Spanish translation service.

It is no secret the process from turning tundra cold leads into magma hot sales is in the follow up. All agreed. The Million dollar question is should you continuously follow up with a prospect or quit after several attempts?

There are many Sales Pros that say dump them immediately and move on. The problem with this is they have the luxury after 10 plus years of prospecting to target the proverbial “low hanging fruit”.

This strategy doesn’t work as well when you are first starting out and you don’t have enough activity inside your sales funnel. For example let’s say you rented a leads list and went through the entire list and you still have a week before the leads expire. Would you:

A. Only use the leads once figuring you retrieved all the potential clientele in one swoop.B. Call one more time but just the numbers you couldn’t get a hold of the first time.C. Call twice more at different times of the day and then call once more and leave a message saying that they have till the end of the week to take advantage of your offer.

The last choice makes the most sense. The biggest decision in determining whether or not you should continually follow up is your offering. The more commodity (price) based your product or service the more you should follow up.

Conversely, the less price based your offering the more your follow up should coincide with the buying cycle.

When I was cold calling for an insurance company the most coveted thing was setting an appointment. It rarely happened. The next best thing was to give a customer a quote. This happened quite a bit.

Since insurance is a commodity business we enjoyed mailing out quotes to prospects after cold calling them. After the initial mailing we would continue to do so twice a year. Every year.

Eventually an agency would close or rates would lower in our region or a prospect would switch to us because they were dissatisfied with their current agent. Regardless of the reason, the agency owner knew that as long has his doors stayed open he would sell them some insurance eventually. He knew that because everyone needs insurance. In our state it’s the law.

Now if you’re a Porsche Sales Professional that might not be the best route. The thing you want to know is: Who buys Porsches? Who buys the equivalent to Porsches? And most importantly how often are they buying Porsches or the equivalent? It is quite feasible to be proactive and base your marketing plan around who could buy a Porsche but I wouldn’t start my career in that manner.

My marketing efforts would be dedicated to consistently contacting these clients around their buying cycle. These are tactical issues that should be determined before you pick up the phone. Many “Salesperts” make broad generalizations with no regard for a salesperson’s business model.

You now have the appropriate tactic based on your business model. Pick up the phone and have a most wonderful day!

With all of the modern improvements in communication and the falling prices of transportation, the world has become a much smaller place. In days long past, people could go their whole lives with only a minimum of contact with those who do not speak their language. Today, translations of documents, letters, and email are required more than ever, not only in business, but sometimes for personal travel and social interaction. It is possible to obtain a perfunctory machine translation online at no cost, but these translations are notorious for their inaccuracy. They cannot be relied upon in any circumstances. So far, computers have yet to achieve the understanding it takes to perform an accurate translation. Translations from professional services will vastly improve any other type of translation.

Professional translation services have only one downside: they are not free. These are businesses or individuals out to make a profit or a living from their vast knowledge of languages and cultural experience. However, anyone who has ever used a professional service will agree that any other translations simply cannot match. Of course, care must be taken to choose a truly professional service. Some translation services do not use real, professional translators. They outsource their translations and are often unaware as to the ability of those performing the translations.

Bad translation services are easy to spot as long as you do a little homework on them. Customers who get poor translations or poor service are quick to tell the world via online reviews. It is also necessary to interview the translation service to get a little background information about them. Besides asking about a translator’s experience and personal background, it helps to discover if they hold college degrees in their non-native language and if they hold certification from the American Translators Association or another association specific to the country in which you reside.

Always try to find a translator who is a native speaker of your target language. This is recommended because a native speaker will not only know the language, but they will understand the culture behind the language. Knowing the cultural nuances of a language and all of the idioms in a language helps immensely in getting an accurate translation that relays the same feelings and tone of the original. If you find a translator that is not a native speaker, you should attempt to discover if they have experience living in the country where the language is spoken. Never accept a translation from someone who has not lived in the country for at least 10 years.

Once you find a translation service or individual translator that provides you with the level of service you require, it helps to stick with them for all of your translation needs. Once a working relationship is established, they will be better able to give you the best translations possible. If you keep going to new translation services, you may end up having to explain the type of translation you need each time.

After screening a translator for knowledge, experience, professionalism, and service, you will understand the benefits of using a professional over free translations.

Even with the cost-effective outsourced services available in the world today, such as telemarketing, many still choose to have in-house telemarketing services rather than to entrust it to a third party provider. However, for small and medium firms that have only recently just started and do not possess the needed resources to have in-house services, the only choice would be to go for outsourced telemarketing services. Both forms may have their pros and cons, however, in-house telemarketing services are just a bit more disadvantageous that going with outsourcing. If you are planning to have telemarketing done for you soon, then you would do well to know which type to get: outsourced or in-house services.

As said above, both sides have their positives and negatives but as also mentioned, in-house services may just be a little more of a hassle to handle unlike with outsourced services. Hopefully, this article won’t discourage you from picking in-house but rather just give you a view of what you would be getting into. Although, the question still remains: should you go with in-house service? Or outsourced services?

OUTSOURCED TELEMARKETING SERVICES – This is perhaps the most widely taken choice by many firms, even those who have the needed resourced for getting their own in-house staff and call center. However, many choose this because it is a cost-effective sales and marketing solution. Also, the telemarketing companies that offer their services to clients that need them employ professional and skilled telemarketers. And although they do hire new staff every now and then, the experience that they soon earn is enough to fuel their purpose. Be it lead generation, appointment setting or plain old hard-selling, these telemarketers are experts at what they do, show professionalism no matter the circumstances they are pushed into and know just what to do and what to say to make sales happen. Also, if the services is not effective for you, it can easily be terminated after the open contract is over. This offers less risk because you won’t have to spend for so much and only have it fail in the end.

IN-HOUSE TELEMARKETING SERVICES – This type of service proves to be also quite promising but it takes a bit of difficulty to manage. For one, you would need additional office space to house your own call center, something that small and medium firms, especially those who are leasing a building cannot do. This already is a huge problem to those who do not have the resourced needed to spend for the construction of an in-house call center and those without enough space within their office building. Second, aside from just the costs of construction, one would also have to deal with buying all the needed equipment for the tasks that need to be done. Third is hiring new staff, another thing that may possibly incur a heavy toll on the allotted budget. Last and not the least is time. Time is mentioned because you would need to take time to train these new employees in how to market your products and services via the phone. You can have complete control of how your telemarketing campaign functions when you have it done in-house but just remember to be prepared that if it does not go so well, you may have just spent a great portion of your hard-earned money on a major loss.

Don’t fret too much, though. No matter what type of telemarketing service you get, it has proven to be quite successful; don’t get discouraged about in-house services, as well. If you’re a small/medium firm, then outsourcing may be your only choice. But if you’re a large company and can afford it and believes that your campaign will succeed, then by all means, go for in-house telemarketing services.

There is a tendency to despise the telemarketer, and with good reason, we all know what it’s like to receive those annoying cold calls when you’re bang in the middle of your favorite soap; having dinner; very early in the morning; or when you’re busy at the office. Unsolicited calls suck. There’s no doubt about it, but I’m going to show how telemarketing skills can turn around your home business to give you an unfair advantage over your competition over the telephone.

Having worked in telesales myself, I know exactly what it’s like to be at the other end of the phone where people yell at you, take the mickey, and not forgetting… hang up on you. It is tough work. Part of your telesales training is to condition you to not take rejection personally (which is great for the home-business entrepreneur). They teach you to dust yourself off, pick up the phone and make your next call. Often criticized for being unethical due to high-pressure sales techniques used by telemarketers, the positive side to being exposed to this industry is the training you receive that will coach you to manipulate people and situations over the phone. It may sound cold and ruthless, but I find this part of telesales training, particularly, critical in teaching you the techniques that can get you closer to closing a deal even when your prospect has told you they weren’t interested. On countless occasions I have witnessed an outright no turning into a yes just by handing over the phone to my supervisor at the sales floor. That by itself illustrates just how easily human beings can be manipulated (not that I’m encouraging you to become a control freak!). It all boils down to the voice, the attitude and the ability to subtly having your way with people. I was amazed! But that training was a great help to me. I already had a great voice — which is a great asset in this business — but telesales training did help me discover the power within that voice that I never knew I had. And although I don’t apply cold calling to my home business, what I learned in telesales is applied to great effect when I speak to my network marketing team members, prospects and business associates across the board.

Before I recommend something you never imagined I would dare do, I’ll give you a couple of handy tips on how with just a tiny adjustment to your voice and attitude when you grab that phone, you can easily turn those sales calls into cash.

Your attitude comes across over the phone. The people you’re calling can’t see you, but they can sense what mood you’re in or the level of confidence in you with that call. So: raise your voice and wear a smile whenever you’re on a call… and stand up. Sitting down slows you down. Standing up gives your voice more power as it better extends your vocal range. Look at it this way: A singer doesn’t belt out a high octave number sitting down (not unless they’re miming). And there is a very good reason why. One word. Power.

And now for what I said I was going to recommend you do that you would’ve never imagined I would dare do: get a telesales job! You heard that right. Because the staff turnover rate in this line of work is unbelievably high (well, you can imagine why), there are always telesales jobs being advertised in the newspapers in most major cities. In most cases (perhaps 99.99% of the time), they really don’t care what you look like (cuz nobody is going to ever see you), and they don’t care what your educational background is. All they need is a good voice that sounds great over the phone. If you posses that quality alone, you’re in. Now one very important tip: when you make that call to apply for the job, bear this in mind … that that call is in fact your interview. So you’d better make sure you speak loud and clearly so that you sound good and confident the other end. If you don’t qualify over the phone, you won’t be called in for a one-on-one interview. So do make sure you do this properly.

Why work in telesales?

Because it is the best place I know of that provides the best training there is to market goods and services over the telephone. Nothing else out there even comes close. Working on a real telesales floor (even for just a few weeks) would be the perfect environment for you should you wish to acquire the skills that will show you how and why telesales training can grow your home business.

Installing your very own shower properly is an easy task to do. What only makes it quite hard for many are the improper steps and procedures done during the installation process. This can cause different installation troubles and other unwanted failures that can possibly make the shower units work irregularly or even become useless.

When installing shower units, there are only three key factors you should remember; knowledge of procedure, tools, and manpower. With these three key factors, it is guaranteed that you can install any type of shower successfully.

Knowledge of Procedure

Proper knowledge when it comes to the installation of the shower is the most important factor you should remember. It is important that you know how to properly install the shower unit, how the parts get connected, and how the unit will function so that you won’t have any problems at all when it comes to its installation.

Most units have their own manuals included which indicate the proper installation procedures you need to follow so that you can install it successfully. It is very important that you read and understand the installation instructions indicated first before doing the procedures so that you won’t encounter any problems with the installation.

Bonus Tip: Also make sure that you keep the manual in handy even if you are already installing the shower. With the manual in handy during installation, you can easily refer to it whenever you have any doubts with what you are doing.

Tools

Having the right tools for the installation is also important so that you can successfully install your very own shower. Most of the times, you can find out what tools you will need through reading the installation manual of the shower. This leads you back to the first key factor which is all about the complete knowledge of the installation procedures.

Most of the times, you will need a hole drill or a jigsaw so that you can create holes where you can put in screws or other peripherals to hold and construct a shower unit. You might also need a level so that you can figure out if you are installing the shower unit perfectly.

Manpower

The third tip involved to successfully install a shower unit will be manpower. The more manpower you have, the faster the installation of the shower unit will be. Moreover it is very important that you already have the right tools and the complete knowledge of the needed procedures since it will only be useless without it and you will just be wasting your energy if you are not sure of what you are doing.

These three factors will be your key to the successful and hassle free installation of shower units. Having the right installation knowledge, using the needed tools for installation, and being able to allocate manpower to do the installation successfully will definitely get the work done and install your very own shower units without facing any problems at all during the installation process.

Cold calling, telesales and telemarketing tips abound. Tried and tested by telesales professionals, these resources have become a system that serves a formula for telesales success. The major elements of that system include the following.

Prospecting. Spending at least two hours a day to screen out suspects from your list so you could focus all of your energy and resources on the most profitable prospects is one sure way to telesales success. This fact alone makes prospecting a must for any telesales professional before embarking on telemarketing. Prospecting ensures that your sales pipeline keeps flowing with prospective customers all day so you’ll never run out of opportunities to make a sale.

Qualifying. After you have engaged the prospect, it is better to qualify him first before getting to your presentation. The idea behind this is that the person who answers your call may not be the decision maker so it does not make any sense give your sales pitch to that person. Don’t waste your time trying to sell to the wrong person. Find out if the he or she is the decision maker by asking probing questions. A good question to ask is: “Are there other people in your department involved in the decision making process related to this purchase so that I can also send the information to them?”

Building rapport. The sales process is an interactive one that involves gaining the trust of your prospect, which can be achieved in many different ways. Get the prospect to open up and give you information about what they do by asking the right questions. Empathize with them and make them feel that you are genuinely concerned in helping them solve their problem.

Presenting. Your rapport-building should be followed by your sales presentation. If you have successfully gained the trust of your prospect, it should not be difficult for you to influence them with your presentation. Do not fail to provide the benefits for each feature of your product or service. Use a script to guide you in delivering a smooth presentation that sounds conversational.

Objection handling. Objections are sure to come up at any stage of your sales call. They come under any guise so be ready for them; they might be a trick to get rid of you. Ask questions to turn around those objections.

Closing. Don’t overdo your selling or things will backfire. Remember, you don’t have to finish your presentation to be able to close the sale. Opportunities to close can come anytime and you have to look for the buying signal.

To Translate or not

In technical translations, certain things are not to be translated. These are mostly company and product names, trademarks, sound marks and patents. They are not translated because they are known and identified in their original form, color, and shape. For example, Microsoft, as a rule does not translate its name and its product names. But this is not the case with all the companies. Certain companies like Nokia do not mind their brand name being written in target languages. Besides, untranslatable text may have technical significance. One has to be very judicious in making these decisions.

Translate or Transliterate

This is a major challenge for translators, particularly in the technical domain. At times one sees more transliterations than translations. This requires a very sound linguistic judgment, particularly when you do not have specific guidelines on what to translate or transliterate. At times, the client provides clear guidelines on what should be transliterated. This is simple to follow. As of now, there are no rules to guide the translators on this. However, there are generally agreed practices in the localization industry.

We just transliterate company and brand names (Nokia, Motorola), product names (Motorazr), domain specific terminology (modem, software, server, E-Mail, infrared, wireless, broadcast, and headset etc.), technology types (Multimedia) and proper names. Terms like file, folder, profile, call, settings, shortcut, operator, menu, media, gallery, card, video, clip etc. that are widely used in local languages in their adopted form are generally transliterated. However we have to be particular about their correct representation in the target language. We should use correct phonetic sounds to represent correct pronunciations in the target language.

Country names are a special category. Some country names have well adopted and accepted parallels in other languages like the United States of America (Sanyukta Raajy Amerikaa), South Korea (Dakshin Koriyaa), South Africa (Dakshin Afrikaa) in Hindi and other Indian languages. But certain country names with similar nomenclature like Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and South Sandwich Islands are just transliterated because they are not well adopted or widely used in other languages. Certain country names are simply not translated as their adopted names conflict with other names. A typical example is United Kingdom which has to be transliterated as the exact translation (Sanyukt Raajya) would conflict with that of the US.

Another associated challenge is whether to transliterate the acronyms and how to transliterate them. The agreed practice in this regard is that we transliterate very popular acronyms like PIN and SIM. But when it comes to hard core domain specific acronyms like Encapsulated Post Script (EPS) Files, Push-to-Talk (PTT), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), we transliterate them and follow it up with the acronym in bracket in English. For ex. Push-to-Talk (PTT).

Cultural Challenges

We often come across typical terminology and names (Hangul Hanja, Katalan). It is pardonable if you misspell an unheard name unless it’s not culturally offensive. But a good translator would go and try to find native speaker to find the correct pronunciation of a typical term or name. These issues are addressed by 1) following a common phonetic convention; 2) searching the web; and 3) speaking to a native.

Another important thing to remember is to respect the cultural sensitivities in translation. Never go ahead with what you find unparliamentary or offensive in your language.
